Abstract

Cassava is a valuable export commodity crop that is often attacked by pests, causing economic losses for this crop. The papaya mealybug has become a major pest of cassava in Vietnam. The parasitoid wasp has been demonstrated to be the most efficient parasitoid wasp for controlling in many regions. We observed the occurrence of in Vietnam, studied the biological characteristics of , and investigated its parasitic activity on . The results showed that occurred more frequently than , another known parasitoid of . The lifespan of was approximately 16 days. In the absence of hosts, a 50% honey solution was an essential diet to increase the longevity of both female and male of . The second instar of was a suitable host stage for parasitism by . Female laid approximately 60.8 eggs within 17 days, mostly during the first 6 to 7 days. These findings suggest that has the potential to control , and could inform the development of more effective pest management strategies for cassava crops in Vietnam and other regions affected by this pest.

木薯是一种重要的出口商品作物,常受到害虫侵袭,给该作物造成经济损失。番木瓜粉蚧已成为越南木薯的主要害虫。在许多地区,寄生蜂已被证明是控制番木瓜粉蚧最有效的寄生蜂。我们观察了越南番木瓜粉蚧的发生情况,研究了寄生蜂的生物学特性,并调查了其对番木瓜粉蚧的寄生活性。结果表明,番木瓜粉蚧的发生频率高于另一种已知的寄生蜂。寄生蜂的寿命约为16天。在没有寄主的情况下,50%的蜂蜜溶液是延长雌雄寄生蜂寿命的必需食物。番木瓜粉蚧的二龄幼虫是寄生蜂寄生的适宜寄主阶段。雌性寄生蜂在17天内产下约60.8枚卵,大部分在最初的6至7天内。这些发现表明,寄生蜂有控制番木瓜粉蚧的潜力,并可为越南及其他受该害虫影响地区的木薯作物制定更有效的害虫管理策略提供参考。
