Abstract
The anterior cricoid split has been used as an alternative to tracheotomy in neonates who have been difficult to extubate. The procedure is described in detail. We review our experience with eight patients who underwent an anterior cricoid split, and we have correlated success with preoperative data in an attempt to establish criteria for patient selection.
