Dilation and diagnostic irrigation of the lacrimal drainage system.

The anatomy of the lacrimal excretory system provides a logical basis for evaluation of the physiological drainage of tears. A review of the methods for examining the lacrimal drainage passages with emphasis on the techniques of punctal dilation and diagnostic irrigation is presented.
