Abstract

There are several systems of Forensic Laboratories and Institutions in the USSR. They are operated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Public Health, the Committee of State Security, and the Ministry of Defense. Each Forensic Laboratory or Institution is divided into specialized departments and units which provide different examinations. Modern techniques and methods are applied to the examination of physical evidence. A particular attention is given to the theoretical research and development of Forensic Sciences.
