metallica gen. et sp. nov. (Diptera, Milichiidae) is described and illustrated based on male and female specimens reared from carton nests of the ant aff. Forel (Formicidae: Dolichoderinae). The new genus is widely distributed in the Brazilian Amazon, and it can be readily distinguished from the other Neotropical genera by the broadened lunule, which extends well posterior of the antennae, and the hypandrial complex parallel to epandrium.
基于从近福尔蚁（蚁科：长节蚁亚科）的纸箱巢穴中饲养出的雌雄标本，描述并图示了金属蝇属（双翅目，尖眼蕈蚊科）新属及新种。该新属广泛分布于巴西亚马逊地区，通过其宽阔的新月片（向后延伸至触角后方很远）以及与尾铗平行的阳茎复合体，可轻易与其他新热带属区分开来。
