Abstract
Historical review about puerperal infections in the last 100 years on the background of publications in the Zentralblatt für Gynäkologie. The time was divided in three parts: The time after Semmelweis (1878 to 1920), the first time of chemotherapy (1920 to 1940) and the antibiotic epoche (after 1940).
