Based on the major components in the leaves, the ashwagandha has been found to exist in several chemotypic forms in India. From the leaves of various accessions of , which were maintained in our institute, three new steroids namely, 4-acetoxy-20β-hydroxy-1-oxo-witha-2,5,24-trienolide (), 24,25-dihydro-14α-hydroxy withanolide D (), 5α,6β,17α,27-tetrahydroxy-1-oxo-witha-2,24-dienolide () together with thirteen known withanolides were identified by spectroscopic methods. From the roots and stem of one accession and leaves of another, a new alkyl ester glucoside () has also been isolated. The new withanolides and have been tentatively named as withanolide 135 A, withanolide 135B and withanolide 108, respectively.
基于叶子中的主要成分,已在印度发现几种不同化学型的睡茄。从保存在我们研究所的不同种的叶子中,分离得到了三种新甾体,分别为:4-乙酰氧基-20β-羟基-1-氧代-娠烯-2,5,24-三醇内酯()、24,25-二氢-14α-羟基娠烷醇-1,24-二烯内酯()、5α,6β,17α,27-四羟基-1-氧代-娠烷-2,24-二烯醇内酯(),以及 13 种已知的娠烷醇内酯。从一个种的根和茎以及另一个种的叶子中,还分离到了一种新的烷基酯葡萄糖苷()。这三种新的娠烷醇内酯暂定名为娠烷醇内酯 135A、娠烷醇内酯 135B 和娠烷醇内酯 108。
