[Diagnosis of ileus using oral gastrografin].

Throughout the years 1970-1983 571 patients were treated for ileus. Oral gastrografin was performed in 169 patients. This method provides definite differentiation between mechanical and functional obstruction. In patients with adhesions and recurrent incomplete obstruction, further laparotomies may be avoided in this way.
