We present a genome assembly from an individual male (the spotted cranefly; Arthropoda; Insecta; Diptera; Tipulidae). The genome sequence is 1,138.0 megabases in span. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 4 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the X sex chromosome. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 17.42 kilobases in length. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 17,753 protein coding genes.
