We report a unique case of dynamic scapular winging due to compression of the long thoracic nerve by a ventral scapular osteochondroma, representing a combination of mechanical and neural causes. Arthroscopic resection of the lesion was performed, which led to complete resolution of the symptoms.
By reporting this case, we aimed to increase awareness of the importance of a correct etiological diagnosis of dynamic scapular winging, so that targeted treatment can be addressed. Arthroscopic resection seems ideal for this indication because it reduces the risk of complications and patient recovery time.
