Abstract

OBJECTIVE

The World Health Organization declared the current monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC) on July 23, 2022, as it has posed a great threat to human health. This bibliometric analysis aimed to explore the current research hotspots focused on monkeypox.

METHODS

A systematic search of the Web of Science Core Collection database was conducted for published articles on monkeypox from database inception to February 23, 2023. VOSviewer software was used for analysis and visualization of research results.

RESULTS

A total of 1646 publications on monkeypox virus were included for bibliometric analysis. Results showed that (1) the number of publications about monkeypox virus increased significantly in 2022, (2) smallpox and monkeypox virus were popular research keywords, (3) the United States has made the most significant contribution to the study of monkeypox virus, (4) was the most active journal in publishing articles about monkeypox, and (5) research themes mainly included the body's reaction after monkeypox infection, epidemiology, diagnosis, and pathological mechanisms.

CONCLUSIONS

Future research should focus on early sensitive diagnostic measures of monkeypox and the development of vaccines based on the characteristics of the virus. Study findings also provided key areas for public health experts to focus on and collaborate with policymakers.

目的

世界卫生组织于 2022 年 7 月 23 日宣布当前的猴痘疫情为国际关注的突发公共卫生事件(PHEIC),因为它对人类健康构成了巨大威胁。本计量分析旨在探讨当前关注猴痘的研究热点。

方法

从数据库建立到 2023 年 2 月 23 日,对 Web of Science 核心合集数据库中发表的关于猴痘的文章进行了系统搜索。使用 VOSviewer 软件对研究结果进行分析和可视化。

结果

共纳入 1646 篇关于猴痘病毒的文献进行计量分析。结果表明:(1)2022 年关于猴痘病毒的出版物数量显著增加;(2)天花和猴痘病毒是热门研究关键词;(3)美国对猴痘病毒的研究贡献最大;(4)《柳叶刀》是发表猴痘病毒相关文章最活跃的期刊;(5)研究主题主要包括猴痘感染后机体的反应、流行病学、诊断和病理机制。

结论

未来的研究应集中在猴痘的早期敏感诊断措施和基于病毒特点的疫苗开发上。研究结果还为公共卫生专家提供了重点关注和与政策制定者合作的关键领域。
