Abstract

Tension band arthrodesis was performed on five metacarpophalangeal and 10 proximal interphalangeal joints of the hand. This technique provides the advantage of firm internal fixation with two pins and a wire, thereby permitting early active motion of the adjacent joints. Bony union was achieved in all 15 joints.
