An absorbable purse-string suture around the prostatic capsule. A method to control the bleeding during transvesical prostatectomy.

8 patients with profuse bleeding from within the prostatic cavity during transvesical prostatectomy were treated with an absorbable purse-string suture around the prostatic capsule. The method, which is described, has been shown to be effective in control of operative and postoperative bleeding.
