Abstract
A transverse abdominal island flap (TAIF) harvested from the ipsi or contra-lateral side, has been employed for breast reconstruction in five patients. The use of a silicone implant can be avoided because of the adequate bulk of skin, muscle and fat that is available. Examples of representative cases are shown.
