Abstract

One-dimensional nitrogen-doped carbon nanotube wrapped NiS core-shell nanoboxes have been developed. The hollow interior and protective carbon layer significantly enhance sodium storage properties, showing high reversible capacities and superior cycling stability at high current densities. Density functional theory calculations indicated that the heterostructure remarkably enhances the charge transfer process.
