This Expression of Concern is for the above article, published online on May 22, 2008 in Wiley Online Library (wileyonlinelibrary.com) and has been published by agreement between the journal Editor-in-Chief; the British Society for Haematology; and John Wiley & Sons Ltd. This Expression of Concern has been published due to concerns raised by a third party regarding duplicated western blot bands within Figure 2D β-actin lane. The authors were informed about the concerns. They responded that, although they were the first ones to observe and publish that HSP70 enhances cell adhesion-mediated drug resistance, the same concept has been further tried and tested and published by other investigators. Therefore, the authors believe that the irregularities found in Figure 2D β-actin lane do not affect the results and the conclusions of this publication. However, without an explanation of the anomaly in the figure and in the absence of the original raw data, the journal team could not verify the authenticity of this figure and could not exclude that these concerns might have affected some of the conclusions of the article. Therefore, the journal has decided to issue an Expression of Concern to inform and alert the readers.
