Abstract

Carbapenemase mechanism testing in carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales is essential for informing patient treatment, infection prevention, and control. By highlighting the clinical and infection control imperative for this testing, addressing current barriers, and delineating future needs, we set the stage and advocate for routine carbapenemase mechanism testing in all clinical laboratories in the United States.
