On the basis of the careful etiological and clinical differentiation of different types of oligophrenia observed in 402 probands of mentally retarded patients, the authors have developed a table of empirical risk for individual groups of relatives with regard to various familial situations and epidemiologico-demographic characteristics. The results of the study indicate the need of medico-genetic consultations with a thorough clinico-geneological analysis of inbred would-be spouses.
