The percutaneous renal biopsy is a commonly used diagnostic procedure. Computed axial tomography (CAT) can assist in precise placement of the biopsy needle into the renal parenchyma in clinical situations in which standard imaging techniques (fluoroscopy and ultrasound) are not suitable.
