Laryngopharyngeal reflux and gastroesophageal reflux disease, have significant impact on quality of life and health care costs. Antacids, alginates, and diet modifications are non-prescription interventions that can help to manage these conditions with limited risk of side-effects. Alginates have emerged as a unique mechanism of treatment to block reflux episodes. When combined with dietary interventions that target reflux triggers, alginates demonstrate enhanced efficacy in managing symptoms and promoting mucosal healing. This article explores the role of antacids, alginates, and diet in reflux management, focusing on their combined impact on symptom relief, patient outcomes, and long-term management strategies.
