Abstract

Perforation of the coronary artery during percutaneous intervention is a feared complication as it may cause cardiac tamponade, acute myocardial infarction, or death. We present a single-center experience of the usage of polyvinyl alcohol for treatment of distal coronary artery perforations when conventional balloon inflation did not suffice. A total of 9 patients were treated in this case series. Our case series suggests that embolization with polyvinyl alcohol particles is a safe procedure for the management of distal coronary artery perforations.
