The present state of cleft surgery enables optimal results to be obtained through operation appropriate to the tissue and development and a longterm treatment lasting until the end of growth. The great individual variation in the clefts demands from the operator exact knowledge of the atypical tissue formations and mastery of the most varied plastic surgical possibilities.
