Two cases are described with atrophy of the interosseous muscles of the upper extremities as a manifestation of peripheral diabetic polyneuropathy with a main motor damage. In both cases, a long-term diabetes is concerned--insulin-independent type, perorally treated. Retino- and nephropathy were present in the patients as well as macroangiopathy in one of the cases. The lesions were in the frame of generalized polyneuropathy of the four extremities, confirmed, in one of the cases, by electromyographic examination. No changes in muscular atrophy were observed by the treatment carried out.
