[Comparative scientific methodologic analysis of the current status and perspectives of development of the biology of aging in the USSR and abroad. I. Scientific metric analysis].

On the basis of national and international literature of the past twenty years (publication register by N. Shock and Excerpta Medica) an analysis is made which makes projections of the trend of gerontologic research possible. It was found that the number of publications dealing with biological gerontology has risen, whereas that of clinical gerontology has shown a downward trend. The same applies to sociological gerontology.
