[Pectoralis major rupture-diagnosis, treatment, followup : Presentation of a pilot project with case study].

The acute rupture of the pectoralis major muscle is a rare injury in young adults, which happens during weightlifting or bodybuilding and should be reconstructed early through surgical repair. The nonsurgical treatment results in a deficit in strength, range of motion and also in cosmetic deformity. This case report describes the successful treatment of a soldier's pectoralis major rupture, from the initial consultation, via surgical treatment in a military hospital, to the final complete rehabilitation. The case report is intended to illustrate the pilot project to establish rehabilitation centers within the German Bundeswehr.
