Abstract

Currently in Mother Newborn Care Unit (MNCU) facility, small and sick newborns receive level II intensive care alongside their mothers 24 × 7. The present manuscript shares the mother- newborn dyad care in MNCU for small and/or sick newborns irrespective of birth weight and gestation, requiring level III intensive care. Before February 2024, in Safdarjung Hospital, the extramural neonates used to be admitted and managed in the pediatric wards with older children without dedicated place for newborns. In February 2024, Safdarjung Hospital operationalized 40 bedded level III MNCU for extramural sick neonates of all gestation and birth weight. Group I represents the data of babies before development of MNCU (May 2023 to Jan. 2024) and Group II represents the data post development of MNCU (Feb. 2024 to Oct. 2024). In-hospital mortality was 28.3% (515/1822) among infants in the Group I and 18.7% (370/1980) in the Group II. Breast feeding and Kangaroo Mother Care rates significantly increased after operationalization of MNCU.

目前,在母婴护理单元(MNCU)设施中,患病的小新生儿与母亲一起接受全天候的二级重症护理。本手稿分享了MNCU中针对无论出生体重和孕周如何、需要三级重症护理的小新生儿和/或患病新生儿的母婴二元护理情况。在2024年2月之前,在萨夫达容医院,院外新生儿过去常常与大龄儿童一起在儿科病房收治和管理,没有专门的新生儿区域。2024年2月,萨夫达容医院为所有孕周和出生体重的院外患病新生儿启用了拥有40张床位的三级MNCU。第一组代表MNCU启用前(2023年5月至2024年1月)婴儿的数据,第二组代表MNCU启用后(2024年2月至2024年10月)的数据。第一组婴儿的院内死亡率为28.3%(515/1822),第二组为18.7%(370/1980)。MNCU启用后,母乳喂养率和袋鼠式护理率显著提高。
