Abstract

In patients with persistent hiccups, the presence of belching suggests an upper gastrointestinal cause. If symptoms resolve with open-mouth breathing at the bedside, supragastric belching may be noninvasively suspected; allowing effective behavioral treatment and potentially reducing the need for further investigations.
