In therapeutic drug monitoring, the analyst is faced, like in clinical chemistry, with the problem of identification of drugs in the presence of a complex biological matrix. Precision, sensitivity and specificity are not such a problem as it was before and are achieved with mainly the aid of chromatographic separation and enzyme or antibody recognition.
