Abstract
The synthetic oestrogen mestranol, given by mouth to young bulls, appeared to stimulate chromophobe cells of the anterior lobe of the pituitary, indicating stimulation of ACTH secretion. The mass of the pituitary was also increased by administration of 5 mg mestranol daily for 130 days. This hypertrophy was prevented by a single intramuscular injection of chlormadinone acetate. The anterior epithelium of the hypophyseal cavity reacted tooestrogen administration by increased secretory activity.

给年轻公牛口服合成雌激素炔雌醇甲醚，似乎能刺激垂体前叶的嫌色细胞，表明促肾上腺皮质激素（ACTH）分泌受到刺激。连续130天每天给予5毫克炔雌醇甲醚也会使垂体重量增加。单次肌肉注射醋酸氯地孕酮可防止这种肥大。垂体腔的前上皮对雌激素给药的反应是分泌活动增强。
