Fifty five children with episodic behaviour disorders and other behaviour disorders and a paroxysmal EEG pattern were examined clinically, psychologically and electroencephalographically. A detailed environmental analysis of social factors was made in each case. The aim of the study was a comparative analysis of the symptomatology and effects of treatment in behaviour disorders of children with and without an early lesion of the central nervous system. The authors have discussed the EEG-clinical correlations, the relationship between the effects of treatment and the clinical syndrome and EEG changes during treatment in the observed groups of children. The role of psychotherapy is emphasized, especially the influence of different environmental factors at home and at school.
