Reports of potential hazards inherent in the use of ethylene oxide as a sterilant have inspired repeated inquiries and concern. Thus we publish herein two items to help clarify aspects of the safe and effective use of this sterilant. These should be disseminated among all hospital sterilization unit personnel.
