Abstract

The effects of environmental factors on the stability of transmissible enteritis virus of turkeys were studied, using an assay system of poult inoculation. Viral infectivity persisted for less than 6 hr at 37 C in nutrient broth. Survival of virus was enhanced in the presence of cysteine and nicotinamide-adenine dinucleotide, and at 5.5. Survival was also enhanced in a growing culture of intestinal microflora and could be observed as well in a culture of in medium with reduced oxygen tension. These results were compared with findings in experiments with several other intestinal viruses, and it is suggested that some intestinal viruses may be adapted to the conditions of low H and redox potential that are normal in the intestine.

利用雏禽接种检测系统,研究了环境因素对火鸡传染性肠炎病毒稳定性的影响。病毒感染力在37℃的营养肉汤中持续不到6小时。在半胱氨酸和烟酰胺腺嘌呤二核苷酸存在的情况下,以及在pH 5.5时,病毒的存活能力增强。在肠道微生物群的生长培养物中病毒存活能力也增强,并且在低氧张力培养基的培养物中也能观察到这种情况。将这些结果与其他几种肠道病毒的实验结果进行了比较,结果表明一些肠道病毒可能适应于肠道中正常存在的低pH值和氧化还原电位条件。
