In invasive carcinoma of the cervix stage 1B our investigations showed 19% lymph node metastases (n = 47) which were verified by operation and microscopic examination. In all of these patients no lympographic evidence of metastases was observed. The value of lymphography in stage 1B invasive carcinoma of the cervix is limited. Since we found 19% false negative results and 0% false positive results, the operation of invasive carcinoma stage 1B of the cervix should therefore include a lympadenectomy which is not dependent on the results of lympography.
