A current case of a dynamic contamination of hand lotion with Pseudomonas cepacia is described. The Ps. cepacia occurred in the hand-lotion as a pure culture in a number of 10(4) bacteria per ml hand-lotion. The contaminant, originating from the tap-water, formed a preliminary reservoir in the deionizer, passed the sterile-filter and entered via the sterile water into the production system, where it formed a secondary reservoir in the top of one of the mixing units.
