Abstract
B-Scan ultrasonography is shown to be useful in identifying two types of complicated retinal detachments in patients with opaque media: detachments complicated by massive periretinal proliferation and giant tears with fixed flaps. These patients have a poor surgical prognosis even with modern techniques of vitreo-retinal-surgery.
