[Indications for ready-made or custom-made compression stockings].

The author studies ready-made stockings and the techniques of classification by category and by pressure. He examines at the same time, custom-made circular or linear knit stockings. His comments lead to the conclusion that the basic problem is the effectiveness of the stocking, especially in patients whose case is somewhat unusual. Pressure must remain consistently even, and there may be problems in pressure linked to the flexibility of the tissues.
