Abstract
A total of 141 cases of hypothyroidism diagnosed within the first two years has been reviewed. The best mental development was achieved when treatment was begun within the first three months of life. At this time hypothyroidism presents mainly with symptoms—usually feeding difficulty, constipation, and lethargy, while the classical physical signs are less obvious than later.

对141例在出生后两年内确诊的甲状腺功能减退症病例进行了回顾性研究。若在出生后的头三个月内开始治疗，则智力发育最佳。此时，甲状腺功能减退症主要表现为一些症状，通常是喂养困难、便秘和嗜睡，而典型的体征不如后期明显。
