World food production has increased in this decade by an estimated 2.5% per annum, but it is probable that up to 200 million children -- a quarter of those in the developing countries -- suffer from undernutrition. Expansion of food production alone is not likely to remedy the situation -- improved distribution at international, national and even family level is also required. The latter can be assisted by suitable development planning and food policy measures.
