Abstract

A young Arab woman with pica is presented. The diagnosis was suggested by the recurrent presence of numerous radiopaque particles in the course of the gastrointestinal tract. The particles changed location and concentration in successive abdominal X-rays taken at intervals of several weeks. Pica and its implications are discussed.
