This is a case report of a 19-year-old male with an unusual case of a complete sciatic nerve paralysis which happened during the treatment of posterior dislocation of the hip. It was presumed that open reduction played a role of a trigger for the sciatic nerve palsy; because an almost complete recovery was obtained by release of the nerve from the ectopic bone mass, it is reasonable to assume that paralysis developed from massive ectopic bone formation around the nerve.
