The vibration sense was tested by the method suggested by the author in 119 patients with Schmorl's bodies of the 4th-5th lumbar vertebrae who were subjected to operation. Vibration sense was found to be disturbed in 90% of patients. The test for vibration sense in lumbar osteochondrosis may be used for exact identification of the involved root and the level of the disc herniation.
