As experience with endocrine diagnosis, radiologic evaluation, and transsphenoidal microsurgery has accumulated, more effective therapy has become available for patients with pituitary adenomas. The amelioration of the various endocrinopathies and the potential for restoration of vision in patients with visual impairment make this aspect of modern neurosurgery most satisfying, both for the patient and for the surgeon.
