The vas deferens is widely used for studies of the action of chemical compounds on adrenergic processes. The recent data indicate that the response of the vas deferens to transmural electric stimulation can be blocked by the substances possessing different properties and that to have a correct assessment of the action of new chemical compounds, of great importance is both the animal species and the characteristics of the strips used (epididymal and prostatic) and electric impulses. The epididymal strip of the rat vas deferens--transmural stimulation by serial electric impulses is a convenient model for screening new chemical compounds.
