Abstract
The cytotoxic activity of natural killer cells is markedly increased by interferon (IFN) and IFN inducers. Auranofin, an oral gold preparation, has an effect similar in size and rapidity to that of IFN but, in contrast, the Auranofin effect does not require RNA synthesis by the effector cells.
