Navicular fractures are easily overlooked; the anatomy of the soft tissues in this region is illustrated and the significance of the navicular fat stripe in the diagnosis and follow-up of navicular and other local fractures is discussed. The differential diagnosis of pathological soft tissue signs in this region is also commented upon.
