[Neocarzinostatin: molecular mechanism of action and prospects for clinical use].

This article describes the properties and biological actions of the antitumor protein neocarzinostatin which stands for a whole group of high molecular weight antitumor antibiotics. Special emphasis is given to the development of our understanding of the molecular mechanism of neocarzinostatin action. From this mechanism of action far-reaching perspectives concerning the clinical application of neocarzinostatin are discussed.
