We have investigated how veratrine does act on the contraction elicited by the motor nerve of a quick muscle on one side, the frog's sartorius, and of a slow muscle on the other side, the frog's hyoglossus. We have found that the contraction of the slow muscle is increased and lengthened and that its graphic has the shape of the veratrine intoxication, whereas the contraction of the quick muscle does not show the slightest alteration.
