Abstract

The clinical sign of a 'halo-like' white border to an ulcer of the oral mucosa is discussed and the pertinent histopathology described. The term 'peripheral keratosis' has been applied to this appearance which can be useful in the initial clinical assessment of an oral mucosal ulcer.
