The author demonstrates, that pregnant diabetics with female fetus in utero have a significant higher increase of insulin demand than those with male (100 p.c. to 50 p.c.; fig. 1). Effects of fetal sex on carbohydrate metabolism as well as resulting consequences for the fetus are thoroughly explained. Other publications, referring the influence of fetal sex to metabolism and other changes in hormone levels are also interpreted. In conclusion the author suggests by investigations of specific changes in pregnancy the fetal sex take into consideration intended for better understanding changes of metabolic regulation systems in pregnancy.
