A new operation for recurrent pterygium with a corneal graft of varying thickness is described. After extensive excision of the pterygium the corneal defect, together with the lamellar and the bare sclera, is covered with the full-thickness corneal graft under the operating microscope. In a group of ten patients who had previously undergone surgery up to 6 times, no recurrences were observed in follow-up periods ranging from 6 months to 3 years. The functional and cosmetic results are satisfactory.
